In Andy's first tweet since his devastating defeat he put a brave face on. He would later tweet the phrase "Lost the battle, won the war" three times. What he is actually referring to is beyond comprehension. His party got smashed.
Thanks to all who have sent such kind messages, & for the less kind too! Proud of my Labour colleagues in the South-West, especially the wonderful Clare Moody. A case of losing the battle but winning the war - although a colossal struggle still ahead to keep Britain in Europe— Andrew Adonis (@Andrew_Adonis) 27 May 2019
He then congratulated three of the winning MEPs, only three mind, of course they were the Remain winners from the Lib Dems and Green Party. Not very gracious in defeat.
Congratulations to @CarolineVoaden, @MollyMEP & @MartinChelt on their election as MEPs for the South-West. They fought positive pro-European campaigns & now have a great trust to help stop Brexit. They follow @ClareMoodyMEP, who did a brilliant job for the region - & for Europe!— Andrew Adonis (@Andrew_Adonis) 27 May 2019
After several tweets and retweets he lashed out at Corbyn.
From my door to door canvassing, I would judge that about a third of Labour party members - those who haven’t resigned - voted Green or Lib Dem on Thursday. Criticism of the leader was near universal— Andrew Adonis (@Andrew_Adonis) 27 May 2019
Poor Andy, he really thought he was in with a chance. Hilarious.
This was the South West England result (elected candidates in bold - 3 Brexit Party, 2 Lib Dems and 1 Green).
