So very proud to witness my good friend @Rakhiaismail become @IslingtonMayor tonight.— Emily Thornberry (@EmilyThornberry) May 16, 2019
She's a businesswoman, a refugee, a mother of 4, a smart politician and a hijab wearing Somali: a great person to be Islington's first citizen. #loveislington pic.twitter.com/LtKBsN8gZW
This tweet from Emily Thornberry (and the one from Hamas earlier this evening) tells you everything you need to know about the modern Labour party. It's ironic that the party motto under Corbyn is "For the many, not the few" because his Labour is more concerned with minorities first and foremost. Whereas Labour was established for the workers and therefore the masses, now it is more concerned about worshippers at the local mosque and events in Palestine. You only have to watch the impassioned speech made by Labour's Richard Burgon to see that today's Labour cares more about these issues than workers' rights.
The workers are no longer a priority for Labour, they've been replaced (literally replaced in many towns and cities). The party of the working classes has left the building.
