WILLIAMSON THROWS IN THE TOWEL

After being barred from standing as a Labour candidate earlier today, Corbyn loyalist Chris Williamson has finally given up the ghost.

After almost 44 years of loyal service and commitment, it's with a heavy heart that I'm resigning from the Labour Party.

By standing as an independent next month he will not be doing his former party any favours.  Williamson had a slender majority and by splitting the Labour vote he will undoubtedly gift the Tories an easy gain.
