Islington North backed its MP for leader in both the 2015 and 2016 leadership elections and was expected to endorse his natural successor this time round - Rebecca Long-Bailey. Constituencies represented by other senior hard left MPs had already endorsed Long-Bailey, including Hayes and Harlington (John McDonnell), Hackney North and Stoke Newington (Diane Abbott), Leeds East (Richard Burgon) and Wansbeck (Ian Lavery).
