MPs have backed the renewal of the 10pm hospitality curfew in a Commons vote on Tuesday night. The vote passed 299-82 with most Labour MPs choosing to abstain. Keir Starmer had allowed backbenchers a free vote, but whipped his front bench to abstain. The free vote led to a mixture of hard left and centrist MPs opposing the curfew - 23 in total.

Ten of the eleven Lib Dem MPs also voted against the curfew, as did Caroline Lucas of the Green Party. Plaid Cymru and the SNP didn't vote as the curfew only affects England, but that didn't stop six members of the DUP registering their opposition or the two Welsh Labour MPs listed above.
Of more concern to Boris Johnson will be the 42 Tory MPs who rebelled. One of them resigned from his junior ministerial role prior to the vote. Bolton MP Chris Green lashed out at the local lockdown in Greater Manchester, in particular the devastating economic consequences for local businesses. The 42 rebels were as follows.
