SEX CHARGES AGAINST EX-COUNCILLOR

Carl Ollerhead, charged with historic sex offences, backed 'inclusive' public toilets

A former Labour councillor in Manchester has been charged with three counts of indecent assault against an under-age girl.  The alleged offences are understood to have taken place in Staffordshire prior to his election as a councillor in 2012.  Carl Ollerhead, who is now 40, was suspended by the Labour group last year after allegations surfaced on social media.  A Twitter user publicly accused Ollerhead of grooming and raping her 'for months' when she was 14, an ordeal that only ended when she became pregnant.

Ollerhead had been a senior councillor, serving as the executive member for finance and human resources.  He represented the ward of Didsbury West, before going on to represent Moston.  Following his suspension he did not defend his seat in this year's local elections.

Ollerhead has previously stated his support for 'inclusive' public toilets, in which biological men and women can 'self-identify' and use the toilet of their choosing.

He will appear before magistrates in Newcastle-under-Lyme on September 28.

September is already a busy month for Labour-related court appearances.  Leicester East MP Claudia Webbe will go on trial for harassment on September 27, while ex-Labour MP Jared O'Mara will appear before Sheffield magistrates on September 24 to answer fraud charges.
